World Parkinson's Day

World Parkinson's Day is celebrated on April 11, coinciding with the anniversary of James Parkinson, a British neurologist who in 1817 discovered what at that time called agitating paralysis and what we now know as Parkinson's disease.
The World Health Organization proclaimed World Parkinson's Day on April 11, 1997. Since then organizations and associations around the world commemorate this day with various events that aim to raise awareness and sensitize society about the disease.
